Another news article! Except this time, it's not about zombies. This time it's about a vampire-ghost terrorizing a town :XD: Damn tourist attractions....

Vampire on the loose in Serbia?

ZAROZJE, Serbia (AP) — Get your garlic, crosses and stakes ready: a bloodsucking vampire is on the loose.

Or so say villagers in the tiny western Serbian hamlet of Zarozje, nestled between lush green mountain slopes and spooky thick forests. They say that rumors that a legendary vampire ghost has awakened are spreading fear — and a potential tourist opportunity — through the remote village.

A local council warned villagers to put garlic in their pockets and place wooden crosses in their rooms to ward off vampires, although it appeared designed more to attract visitors to the impoverished region bordering Bosnia.

Many of the villagers are aware that Sava Savanovic, Serbia's most famous vampire, is a fairy tale. Still, they say, better to take it seriously than risk succumbing to the vampire's fangs.

"The story of Sava Savanovic is a legend, but strange things did occur in these parts back in the old days," said 55-year-old housewife Milka Prokic, holding a string of garlic in one hand and a large wooden stake in another, as an appropriately moody mist rose above the surrounding hills. "We have inherited this legend from our ancestors, and we keep it alive for the younger generations."

Vampire legends have played a prominent part in the Balkans for centuries — most prominently Dracula from Romania's Transylvania region. In the 18th century, the legends sometimes triggered mass hysteria and even public executions of those accused of being vampires.

Sava Savanovic, described by the Zarozje villagers as Serbia's first vampire, reputedly drank the blood of those who came to the small shack in the dense oak tree forest to mill their grain on the clear mountain Rogatica river.

The wooden mill collapsed a few months ago — allegedly angering the vampire, who is now looking for a new place to hang his cape.

Some locals claim they can hear steps cracking dry forest leaves and strange sounds coming from the rocky mountain peaks where the vampire was purportedly killed with a sharp stake that pierced his heart — but managed to survive in spirit as a butterfly.

"One should always remain calm, it's important not to frighten him, you shouldn't make fun of him," said villager Mico Matic, 56, whose house is not far from the collapsed mill.

"He is just one of the neighbors, you do your best to be on friendly terms with him," he said with a wry smile, displaying garlic from both of his trouser pockets.

Some locals say it's easy for strangers to laugh at them, but they truly believe.

"Five people have recently died one after another in our small community, one hanging himself," said Miodrag Vujetic, a local municipal council member. "This is not by accident."

Vujetic, however, said that "whatever is true about Sava," locals should use the legend to promote tourism.

"If Romanians could profit on the Dracula legend with the tourists visiting Transylvania, why can't we do the same with Sava?"

Richard Sugg, a lecturer in Renaissance Studies at the U.K.'s University of Durham and an expert on the vampire legends, said the fear could be very real. Stress can bring on nightmares, which makes people's feelings of dread even worse.

"The tourists think it is fun — and the Serbian locals think it's terrifying," he said.

Wow, just wow. I was going on youtue and when I opened up the internet-thingy, this story popped up on my homepage. And quiet frankly, it made my week :XD:

Marines, police prep for Mock Zombie Invasion

SAN DIEGO (AP) — Move over vampires, goblins and haunted houses, this kind of Halloween terror aims to shake up even the toughest warriors: An untold number of so-called zombies are coming to a counterterrorism summit attended by hundreds of Marines, Navy special ops, soldiers, police, firefighters and others to prepare them for their worst nightmares.

"This is a very real exercise, this is not some type of big costume parry," said Brad Barker, president of Halo Corp, a security firm hosting the Oct. 31 training demonstration during the summit at a 44-acre Paradise Point Resort island on a San Diego bay. "Everything that will be simulated at this event has already happened, it just hasn't happened all at once on the same night. But the training is very real, it just happens to be the bad guys we're having a little fun with."

Hundreds of military, law enforcement and medical personnel will observe the Hollywood-style production of a zombie attack as part of their emergency response training.

In the scenario, a VIP and his personal detail are trapped in a village, surrounded by zombies when a bomb explodes. The VIP is wounded and his team must move through the town while dodging bullets and shooting back at the invading zombies. At one point, some members of the team are bit by zombies and must be taken to a field medical facility for decontamination and treatment.

"No one knows what the zombies will do in our scenario, but quite frankly no one knows what a terrorist will do," Barker said. "If a law enforcement officer sees a zombie and says, `Freeze, get your hands in the air!' What's the zombie going to do? He's going to moan at you. If someone on PCP or some other psychotic drug is told that, the truth is he's not going to react to you."

The keynote speaker beforehand will be a retired top spook — former CIA Director Michael Hayden.

"No doubt when a zombie apocalypse occurs, it's going to be a federal incident, so we're making it happen," Barker said. Since word got out about the exercise, they've had calls from "every whack job in the world" about whether the U.S. government is really preparing for a zombie event.

This absolutely made my day :XD: Also, if I don't say anything to you guys before Halloween, :skull: HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!! :pumpkin:

You better freaking repost this if you care.

it's 10:53pm on a saturday night. you've already said goodnight to your parents and siblings. your door is locked and they think you're sound asleep. you sit at your desk twirling a pen in your hand. you stare at the blank piece of paper as your eyes fill with tears for the fifth time tonight. you don't want to do it without writing a goodbye letter. you want to make sure your family knows why you did it. the tears fall onto the paper and you can't help the frustration as the droplets ruin the paper. you crumple it up and break down even harder. you realize you can't write the letter, so you look in the mirror once more and watch as your final tear falls. only a couple of minutes later your heart stops and the blood escapes your body, making a puddle under your cold, lifeless body. but nobody's going to care, right?

it's now 7:57am monday morning. your mother waits downstairs in the kitchen to give you your lunch money. she's already late for work, but she doesn't want you to stress about making a lunch for yourself. she doesn't know what's taking you so long. she calls your name a couple of times, but there's no response. she has no idea that your cold dead body is laying on the bedroom floor. she thinks you slept in, so she hops up the stairs and knocks on your door, but still, there is no answer. she opens the door and screams, horrified. she runs to you and holds your body. the tears seem like a waterfall, never ending. she sits there with you cradled in her arms for a good hour, until she has enough strength to get up and call your father. your father rushes home and they cry together. they pick your siblings up from school and try to explain to them what has happened. your brother runs out of your room and into his. he slams the door. he thinks it's all his fault. he always picked on you, calling you names and starting arguments just to push your buttons. he punches his walls and allows the tears pour out of him. your little sister doesn't understand. she asks if it's because she always tries to take your stuff or because she never leaves you alone when you have friends over. it's hard to explain something like this to a six year old. but she probably won't care anyways, right?

it's now 12:53pm wednesday and your mom finally goes to school. she hasn't left the house since you took your life, but she knew she had to go. she enters your third period classroom, where you should be going next, to only see your teacher sitting at his desk, grading papers. all of your classmates are eating lunch. your teacher greets your mother and asks where you've been. your mother bursts into tears and your teacher is automatically astonished. he has no idea what's wrong, but he tries to comfort your mother. your mother explains what has happened, and your teacher starts crying too. he begins to have flashbacks of all the times he yelled at you for not paying attention or not doing your homework. he thinks it's his fault for being too hard on you. your classmates return and are confused. a few of them recognize your mother and want to say hi, but they know something is wrong. your teacher calls the vice principle and the principle in and your mother explains. everyone in the classroom is now crying, even the annoying boy that sat behind you and stuck gum in your hair is crying, thinking it's his fault. even the popular girl that wouldn't give you the time of day is crying, thinking it's her fault. even the nerd that wouldn't let you copy his homework is crying, thinking it's his fault. they're probably all faking, because nobody actually cares, right?

a week has gone by and it's time for your funeral. nobody has ever seen one this large. almost every kid in your school and their families are there. actually, almost everyone you've come into contact with has come. it's like a pool of black as one looks over the people sitting in chairs as your dead corpse lies in the casket. everyone goes up to speak. after every speech, everyone begins to cry harder. even the emotionless jock is in hysterics. the funeral lasts many hours. nobody wants to get up, move on, to accept what has happened in real life. all of them are just too lazy to get up, because obviously none of them actually care, right?

wrong.

nobody wanted you to take your life. nobody wanted to wake up and find your dead body. nobody wanted this, wished for this, could have imagined this. some people knew you had been down lately, but they never thought this would happen. nobody thought this could happen. they never thought they would go through this much pain. they never wanted to have to face the agony, the guilt, the frustration, the depression, and the heartache they have had to encounter.

now, before you kill yourself, think about it. you matter so much to so many people. there are so many people that would miss you. your smile, your laugh, the way your eyes light up when your happy. do you want to take that away from everyone? from yourself? never get to smile again, or see the person that makes your heart skip a beat, never get to live? don't do that to yourself. you have so much to live for. if you haven't already, do you really want to miss the opportunity to meet your true friends? have your first kiss? fall head over heels in love? get your heart broken time and time again? go to college? get an A+ on that final you studied weeks for? get married? have your own children?

so you had a rough day? a rough week? rough month? and you think there's no reason to live? put your hand on your chest. feel that beating? that's your reason to live. don't give up, your not alone, there are so many people who care about you, don't ever think differently.

you are not alone. you are the heart that beats inside of me. if you give up tonight, you give up on me. so take back your life and put back the knife.

SUICIDE AWARENESS WEEK..
if any of my watchers are ever feeling down, please feel free to note me, I really want to help you if you're feeling upset I know how hopeless you must be feeling, but trust me, there's someone out there, maybe right in front of you, who loves you so much tat if you died tomorrow, they would die as well. Please if not for me, then for that person, put down the razors, throw out the pills, untie the rope... please.
